YETI has launched its first technical clothing collection for men and women, adding rainwear, insulated jackets, fleece and merino-wool layers to its outdoor-equipment range. The five styles form a small collection designed to be worn in layers. YETI (source, opens in new tab)YETIYETI Performance Apparel GuideOpen source (opens in new tab) WWD (source, opens in new tab)

The move takes YETI beyond branded merchandise. According to fashion trade publication WWD, the company’s apparel business began with hats given away with its hard coolers. Executives cited customer interest in clothing as a reason for developing the range.
The collection includes the Tensleep hooded hybrid down jacket, Tilloo rain jacket and Sansaba zip-up fleece, alongside two merino-wool styles: the Hueco full-zip and Caprock quarter-zip. WWD reports prices from $180 for the fleece to $400 for the down jacket.
YETI says the Tilloo uses a three-layer shell designed to keep rain out while allowing moisture to escape. The two merino styles use Nuyarn, a wool-yarn technology that the company says is designed to improve durability, moisture management and shape retention compared with conventional merino. These are company claims; neither YETI’s guide nor WWD’s report provides independent wear-test results.
The initial launch is limited to the United States, through YETI’s website and stores and selected specialist retailers. The company says it plans to add further styles, categories and seasonal offerings.
