Luxury Spa Italy – Terme di Saturnia

MILAN, Italy — One of the activities I like the most during my free time is to pamper myself and relax. And since this is a common practice among many ladies in town, I think it would be a good idea to point out to our readers some of the most beautiful and welcoming Spas I have visited in Italy – a real ‘treat’ to live a unique and unforgettable experience, to relax and enjoy the treatments for your body and spirit while balancing your physical and mental wellbeing. This could be a good way to travel around the country while trying unbelievable treatments in fabulous resorts.

Luxury Spa Italy – Vair Spa at Borgo Egnazia

From the city to the mountains and from the lakes to countryside, this is my selection:

  • Pré Saint Didier Spa & Resort. The elegant nineteenth century building with breathtaking views of the Mont Blanc is the perfect place to fully regain your wellbeing and live special emotions. Due to its location, just a few kilometres from the ski resorts of Courmayeur and La Thuile, it is better to go there during the winter season, although the landscape is beautiful all year round. A special mention goes to the three outdoor swimming pools.
  • Nun Relais and Spa Museum. Located in Assisi, it is the result of a the careful restoration of the ancient monastery of Saint Catherine, which was originally constructed in 1275 for a community of Benedictine nuns on the remains of the Roman amphitheatre and the Perlasio springs. A magic atmosphere for this Spa: Nun Path takes you to 4 rooms with different temperatures and humidity levels (Tepidarium, Calidarium, natural sauna, Frigidarium) and then to a multi heated massage pool with water jets for different types of hydrotherapy and jacuzzi to end in the relaxation room.
  • Vair Spa at Borgo Egnazia. Vair Spa believes in a new idea of wellness based on the concept of the psychological fulfilment and actually, there are a series of extraordinary treatments born precisely from this vision. Some examples are Kiuv, designed to loosen emotional and physical blocks or Abbel bel, a caress for your face, utilising a sequence of natural aromas and expert handwork that help you relive your childhood and youth.
  • ESPA at Tenuta la Badiola. ESPA is part of an amazing resort located in the Tuscan countryside. Tenuta la Badiola includes an hotel, a golf course, a Michelin star restaurant ran by the chef Alain Ducasse and much more. ESPA Spas (part of a leading British wellness trademark) offer holistic treatments using pure, natural products that revitalise the body and soul. As their focus is on all the five senses, they have given life, for the first time, to the concept of Gourmand Spa, a special collaboration between ESPA and Alain Ducasse, an entirely new concept of wellbeing that also takes taste into account.
  • Terme di Saturnia. The privilege of Saturnia, a unique Spa resort, comes from its relationship with its environment and exceptional hot spring. They called it Natural Reset, a journey to restoration for each guest which combines ultra-nurturing, regenerative thermal and mud therapies with up to the minute medical facilities and technology.
  • Aquanatura Wellness & SPA at Relais del Sant’Uffizio. A romantic oasis of peace and tranquility nestled in the quiet of the vineyards of Monferrato, Relais Sant’Uffizio is a former monastic convent of 1500. The area of the Spa is about 500 square metres and the pool overlooks a beautiful landscape. There is also the possibility to book a private Spa to enjoy the atmosphere and the treatments in a more intimate way.
  • Hotel Principe di Lazise Wellness & SPA. A beautiful hotel and Spa surrounded by nature situated on Lake Garda. The Aquavitae Spa is spread over an area of 2,000 square metres and offers more than 100 treatments and massages, customised according to the method bioesthetique and the Ayurvedic tradition.

To complete our journey, if you happen to be in Milan, you cannot miss the Spa of the Bulgari Hotel and the Armani Hotel. At the Bulgari Hotel I suggest to try one of the Rituals (Harmony, Relax, Escape or Serenity) that combine facial and body treatments while submerged in a beautiful spa and other facilities. Whereas at the Armani Spa the relax and the pool areas are overlooking the city…rendering a unique atmosphere for its visitors. You can book a half or a full day Spa and select one (or more) of the many treatments available.

I think that this short but comprehensive list of my favourite Spas should get you started. Now you just need to choose one!
